June 9-11, 2025 -- LAKE CHARLES XLII -- INTO THE STORM
We didn't know what the weather in Lake Charles would be at this time, when we booked the trip. As the time drew closer to the time of the trip, we knew the weather was going to be stormy, but nevertheless, we decided to go to Lake Charles anyway.
Day 1 -- A Start To Fit The Weather
While my wife and I were waiting for the tour bus to take us from Houston to Lake Charles, it thunderstormed. Fortunately, the rain stopped, and we went to Lake Charles without delay.
After we checked into our room at L'Auberge, I played craps. I got in on a good shooter, and made $156 at the table.
If this session was just that craps session, then that would have been great. However, before the craps session. I lost $925 at a blackjack table, then afterthe craps session, I went to a different blackjack table, and won $375 of it back. I then tried one more blackjack table, and lost $900 there, for a total loss for the casino session of $1294. A real stormy start!

After dinner at the Ember Steakhouse, we decided to play once more. Back to the casino room at L'Auberge. I played craps, and got off to a somewhat rocky start, then on someone else's roll, I barely got my money back, plus $13. I did add $50 to that for a win at the blackjack table, after a stormy start at the table. An overall net loss of $1231 for the day. Will tomorrow be better?

Day 2 -- ANTS!!!!
The weather was stormy on and off today as well. Unfortunately, it would mirror our second day here.
I started off at the craps table, still at L'Auberge. Here, my timing was really off, getting sniped on my Don't bets, and getting 7-outs when I was playing light-side. I had one shoot, and I PSO'ed on one of those light-side plays. I lost $757 at the table. I did get $75 of it back at the blackjack table, after another struggle to get it back. A total casino loss of $682.

I did manage to play at Golden Nugget once, avoiding the on-and-off thunderstorms. I first played craps there, and I got into a good roll, playing slow, but eventually winning $154 (I would have won more if I'd played more aggressively). i managed to add $24 to that at the poker table after nearly 2 hours of grinding it out, hardly getting any real playable hands. A total casino win of $178.

Just before dinner, back at L'Auberge, I played blackjack, hoping my luck was finally turning around for the better, given my win at Golden Nugget. WRONG!! I had another horrible blackjack session, losing $875. This is turning into an AWFUL trip, regarding the gambling!
Far and away, the big story of this day, was what Mrs. MusicalDice discovered in our room, once we got back from dinner. She discovered ANTS on the desk, and even in our bed!! Obviously, we had to change rooms. We were initially moved from 358 to 1147...only to find that air conditioning doesn't work in that room!! They couldn't get it fixed, so they told us they'd move us AGAIN, this time, a few doors down to 1153...only to find that there was someone else already occupying the room!!! They then discovered that they told us the wrong room--it was really supposed to be 1553. Keep in mind that it was already late at night, and the whole ordeal lasted for about 3 hours, trying to get everything straight! To say the least, I was NOT a happy camper!!!! And oh yeah, my gambling was even worse today, losing a net of $1379.
Day 3 -- Had Fun, Regardless
For this final session at L'Auberge for this trip, I decided I was going to have fun, regardless of what happens. I played craps, and I did fall into the hole quickly. I did get a few chanves to shoot. The first time, I used the 3V dice set from the end. Shot a 6. Then I switched to the Yo-Yo dice set, shooting a 10, even hitting the Small for a $170 payout. However, that wasn't enough to get all my money back, and despite a 15-roller using the same dice set the next time I got to shoot the dice, I still ended up $192 down for the session. Down $2802 for the whole trip. I'm all gambled out. At least I can say only $626 of that loss was in craps. Anyway, it is what it is. The last craps session was fun nonetheless. I'll be back here next month, most likely. But for now, that's all!
