Musical Dice -- My Biggest Gambling Wins By Year

Written July 13, 2025

Every once in a while, I look back at my biggest gambling wins for each year that I've gambled. I figured, why not give the reader such a glimpse into those wins? That's what this article is all about.

The first time I ever gambled in a casino was on August 21, 1993, at Bally's in Atlantic City. I lost $180 playing roulette. The first win I ever got, was on October 6, 1993, at the Sands casino in Atlantic City, where I won $41 playing roulette, after hitting 36 where I had more than one bet. I left immediately afterwards. It may have been that experience that shaped my being such a hit-and-run gambler.

The first time I ever played craps was on July 12, 1998, at the Showboat casino in Las Vegas (before it became the Castaways--now demolished). I won $28 at a $3 table. The rest was history.

However, I never started taking gambling seriously until just after 9/11. It was then that I started keeping records of my results, and it's because of that, that I'm able to create this article. Enjoy!

Also worthy of note was the fact that I cracked someone's Pocket Aces with 10-7 suited, and he was still pissed off about that when he saw me 12 hours later!

2006 was a truly HORRIBLE year for me financially. For a long long time, I couldn't even go to a casino. It was a few weeks after I'd moved out to Jacksonville FL (from the San Diego area in California) that I was able to go to the casinos again. Here, I won $256 playing craps, and lost $155 playing poker. I even said that I'd won for all the wrong reasons.

2001

12/8/2001

Monte Carlo

Las Vegas, NV

Craps, Blackjack

Monte Carlo is now known as Park MGM. To this day, this is STILL my favorite gambling moment. Why? Because I was the shooter, and everybody there at the table, was cheering every rool of mine (albeit random rolls). The pit boss said I'd held on to the dice for 40 minutes! The only other time in my life that I felt like I was being treated like royalty, was when I bowled a perfect 300 in a league a year earlier, and the whole alley erupted in cheers when I got that final strike. It was an incredible feeling! It was a similar feeling that night at the craps table. Technically, I'd first won $115 at the blackjack table, then lost $100 at one craps table, then got that back at this craps table, plus about $40, and I was about to leave the table when the previous shooter crapped out. The dealer asked me if I wanted to shoot the dice, and I reluctantly agreed. I turned that $40 profit into $1550. Boy was I glad I made THAT decision!!!!
