Musical Dice -- The 1-2-3 Don'ts Strategy

Written July 25, 2024

Anyone who knows me, knows that I don't like playing the Don'ts. I am way more of a light-side craps player. However, as I sit here in my hotel room at the Golden Nugget casino, writing this article, I can tell you that playing the Don'ts, a.k.a. the dark side, has bailed me out of a scraps on at least two occasions. The strategy I used is the topic of this article.

I call this strategy the 1-2-3 Don'ts strategy. Now I admit to having the old song "1-2-3" by Len Barry, but really, why I call this strategy what I do is because it's basically the dark-side version of a strategy Jeremy from Color Up had rolled out a while back on a vlog, where for a point of 6 or 8, you place 1 times the Pass Line bet for odds, 2 times the Pass line bet for odds for points of 5 or 9, and 3 times the Pass line bet for odds on the 4 or 10.

This strategy is kind of a reverse on Jeremy's strategy, for this strategy works from the Don't Pass, and the lay for the 6 or the 8, would be 1X the Don't==really 6/5 the Don't bet, but the payout would be 1X. For the 5 or the 9, the lay would be enough for a 2X payout, which really means laying 3 times the amount of the Don't bet. For 4 or 10, the lay is enough for a 3X payout, which requires laying 6 times the Don't Pass bet for odds. The lays are larger for 5 and 9, and 4 and 10, using this strategy because the 7 is more likely to come with those numbers for points.

Also, with this strategy, you also make use of the Don't Come bets as well. You make two Don't Come bets at the same dollar level as the Don't Pass bet, and make the lays the same way as you do for the Don't Pass odds.

Of course, there are going to be times that the Don't Pass bet is going to lose on the come-out. In that case, I'd recommend raising the Don't Pass bet up by the amount of the base Don't bet. For example, if you're on a $15 table, you'd be raising the bet to 30, then 45, then 60, and so-forth, as needed. Then you make your lay bets based on what you have on the Don't Pass bet. And as you win, reduce the Don't Pass bet down to the last dollar level. If you get your money back, you can reduce the Don't bet to the minimum or base level. It's definitely important to keep track of your bankroll as you're playing this strategy.

This strategy will require a large bankroll, for there may be times that you're going to have to put a lot of money out there for the Don't Pass and Don't Come bets, as well as the lays. But you're betting on the bets with the lowest casino edge, so this is a good strategy for that reason.

Of course, if the table becomes a hot table, this strategy will lose. This strategy is bet when the shooters are crapping out right and left. As with any craps strategy, this is not guaranteed to win every single time. But this can be a very good strategy if you're on a cold table. As I said, it's bailed me out of scapes at least twice on this current gambling trip that I'm on. It can work for you too. Good luck! ☺
